In NCAA play, there are too many teams and too many players, and too many additional variables for us to be quite as accurate as we can with the NBA. Don't get me wrong. Most sports handicappers operate very similarly in that they give away some free NBA picks or whatever sport is in season, in order to show their sports betters how good they are at predicting games and winners. Their reasoning is that if they are giving away NBA winning picks, wouldn't it make sense to buy more winning NBA picks from them and bet and win even more games. So this is how they lure sports betters into buying their NBA picks and then looking at their college picks.
If this initial process is successful doesn't it make sense that these same winning players will move on to some free college basketball picks? Several years ago we hired our first sports analyst/statistician. Our numbers guy encouraged us to go to consensus picks. This fact was repeated when we looked at the difference between our handicapper's ability to predict games from among different sports and numerical results for various types of games, the over and under, the prediction against the spread... etc. No one was able to do them all equally well but some were very consistent at selecting their best particular element of any given sport. It didn't take a rocket scientist to make the logical deduction that followed these facts. If you can isolate the best handicappers by sport and find the best numbers guys by sport and merge all of their results together, you might be able to make regular, higher percentage, winning sports picks on a continuous basis.

Fact number one is this: No individual sports handicapper can retain all of the data necessary to predict all of the games played in any one sport during the year extremely well, much less trying to predict all of the sports betting picks in all of the different active sports. There is no point in having the highest number of game winners if you have very few winning over and under predictions and aren't too good at handicapping the spread.
The third thing we have now admitted is that numbers crunchers are way better at predicting numbers than most sports handicappers and yet sports handicappers have the bigger capacity to analyze the winners and losers in a given contest. They know the trends, the angles, the effect an injury will have, team morale, coaching ability and the hundreds of more esoteric, hard to grasp, elements of a given game and can somehow determine a likely winner by running all of that information through their brain.
So for the very first time in sports handicapping, we have isolated and hired some of the best basketball numbers guys in all of sports and we sit them down each day with some of the best basketball handicappers in all of sports, this includes separate college sports guys and NBA handicappers. I let them, as a group, convince me, who is going to be the winning NBA pick for each game; who will have the winning college basketball picks and by how much, and who will therefore win the over /under and win against the spread.
